About

Classic Stereo Width and Detuned Dimension

Braid-231 is built around the stereo micro-pitch-shift effect associated with the Eventide H3000 and its MicroPitchShift preset. By combining small pitch offsets with short time differences between the stereo sides, it turns a mono or narrow source into a wide, spacious sound without the obvious sweep of a conventional chorus.

On guitar, Braid-231 adds the polished width heard on countless studio and rack-era tones; on synths and other sources it works as a subtle doubler or a more dramatic stereo expander. On bass, small offsets open up the top of the tone while the fundamental stays centered and solid — keep the detune modest and you gain width without losing the anchor of the low end.

Braid-231 is an algorithmic design rather than a circuit model. Its pitch offsets, inter-channel delays, and interpolation were tuned against measured responses from the original hardware, so the character of the classic effect is reproduced digitally while the attack and tonal identity of the source stay intact. The result ranges from barely noticeable thickening to a clearly detuned, dimensional texture.
