About
Wide Stereo Dimension without the Chorus Wobble
Dim D-320 is inspired by the Roland SDD-320 Dimension D, the studio processor famous for creating width and depth without sounding like an obvious chorus. Its modulation is subtle, smooth, and carefully balanced, adding movement around the source while the center image stays solid and the pitch feel stays natural.
The effect is at its best on clean and lightly driven guitars, where it makes a part feel larger without softening the attack. On bass it is a studio classic for the same reason: it opens up a clean part and adds unmistakable late-'70s and early-'80s character while leaving the center and the low end untouched. It also works beautifully on synths and other sources that need stereo spread and gentle animation.
Dim D-320 is an algorithmic design rather than a circuit model: its modulation shapes and delay structure were tuned against measured responses from the original hardware. From barely-there spatial enhancement to a lush dimensional spread, it is built to add size while staying out of the way of the performance.
